Hai everyone hope all are doing great.  After longtime I would like to post an article  about the Pathankot city in Punjab.
            Pathankot in Punjab has a glorious history. Many historical stories are associated with Pathankot, the state capital of the Pathani Rajputs of Nurpur. Pathankot is a popular tourist destination located at the confluence of three states Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.  Also known as  "pratishthana " and also believed that  part of  kingdom " Audumbra". The past of this city is associated with 17th century pathania clans of rajput ruled  the city  'Nurpur' ( present ,  part of himachal pradesh) ,  later in 1781   Sayed khan from nurpur kingdom taken over , later on after independence pathankot became residence for immigrants from Pakistan .The gateway to himachal and kashmir ,  pathankot is  both a destination  as well as tourists  with flowing of chakki and ravi rivers  along with shiwalik on south & himalayas on  North , pathankot is a true beauty.

How to reach Pathankot

By Air: Pathankot Airport is mainly used by the Indian Air Force.
There are very few flights for common citizens from Delhi and Kullu. Amritsar Airport is the nearest airport to Pathankot. It is about 125 km from Pathankot. Regular cab services are available from both airports to Pathankot.

By Train:

Pathankot railway junction receives regular trains from all major cities of India.

By Road:

Buses are available from major cities of the country to Pathankot city. The bus junction  receives regular buses from other major cities of the country.

Best time to visit Pathankot : 

The best time to visit Pathankot is during the months of October to April when the weather here is pleasant and the average temperature does not remain from 15 ° C to 20 ° C.  If u r planning to visit pathankot during summer  the weather is not too hot.

Places to visit in Pathankot : 

Shahpurkandi Fort :

Shahpurkandi Fort was built in the 16th century. This fort is one of the most beautiful forts in the city also have guest house for travelers and tourists, this fort was once a strategic military fort on the banks of river Ravi. Located on the border of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, this fort tells many stories of old times.



Kathgarh Temple :

The Kathgarh temple has immense religious significance. Dedicated to the Hindu deity Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, the temple is characterized by an ancient lingam that is mysterious. According to puranas, his brother Bharata, who came to seek Lord Rama, visited this temple. Situated at the confluence of the Beas and choch rivers, the Kathgarh temple is famous for heritage and exceptional architectural craftsmanship.



Noorpur Fort :

The most notable of the famous architectural and historical places of Pathankot is the Nurpur Fort. Also known as Dhameri Fort, originated in the 10th century. Today, this fort has ruins and huts and this fort was demolished by the British after the earthquake in the year 1905. The fort also has a single temple, known as the Brij Raj Swami Temple. This temple holds great importance among the local people. It is the only place in the country where idols of Lord Krishna and Meerabai are worshiped together. This temple, built in the 16th century, must be visited when visiting Panthankot. 



Mukteshwar Temple :

Pathankot has many magnificent temples dedicated to Hindu deities, one of which is the Mukteswar Temple. Mukteshwar Temple is one of the most popular spiritual sites in Pathankot. Situated on the banks of river Ravi situated  top a hill and has a marble Shivalinga with copper vagina. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu mythological deity Lord Shiva and consists of a group of sacred cave temples. Purana has it that these caves used to be the refuge of the Pandavas while in exile. The temple also houses statues of other Hindu deities like Brahma, Vishnu, Hanuman, Parvati and Ganesha.



 A athankot has its own railway station which is connected to major railway stations of India  and makes very important to  near by places  of Dalhousie,  Dharamshala, kangra, manali, amritsar, chamba and other parts of Jammu & Kashmir.
